Terms of Reference

The Communications Working Group arises from the restructuring of the Partnership that was agreed in February 2001. It is one of 4 decision-making groups, the others being Management Working Group; Habitats, Species and Data Working Group; Biodiversity Records Centre Steering Group These groups are co-ordinated by a Project Board containing the chairs of these groups and other members of the Partnership.

The purpose of the Communications Working Group is to:
1. Provide generic communications guidance for the Partnership e.g. communications guidelines
2. Provide advice or support for individual action plan leads. i.e. when developing BAP related publicity material such as press releases; or by assisting with public awareness raising events
3. Maintain an overview of communications materials produced within the partnership
4. Provide strategic communications and public awareness support for the partnership i.e. website

In addition, the Communications Working Group will:
1.
Post an agenda for the meeting and Chair's contact details on the Partnership's website 2 weeks in advance.
2. Welcome written questions from any party in advance. The chair is responsible for ensuring a prompt response.
3. Put minutes of the meeting and any papers, such as guidance on the website.
